Realtor, Community Activist, Friend...
When I became a licensed Realtor in the fall of 2006, I hit the ground running. Despite the beginning of a downturn year, my commitment level of service to clients resulted in being awarded the "2007 Rookie of the Year". While her outstanding performance reflects her accomplishments, she says it´s the personal relationships she develops with her clients that are the most rewarding.
Julie recently joined GardnerKeim Coastal Realty. on St. Simons Island the beginning of December 2008. She has been impressed with the level of professionalism and service each agent shows their clients. She says, "Just as every day is different, every customer and client is different. They each have different needs, wants and personalities. As a Realtor it takes a great deal of discipline to balance the various aspects of this business in order to stay on track and exceed the expectations of my clients."
At GardnerKeim Coastal Realty every agent is a full-time Realtor servicing Brunswick, St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Sea Island and other coastal properties. This adds tremendously to the success of our agency. "We have fun together, support and encourage each other and share ideas and successes. Everyone works diligently to establish a high level of trust with clients, to provide service beyond expectations and to constantly improve our knowledge of the business through education.
Having moved to St. Simons Island from Atlanta over 15 years ago, Julie has a wealth of contacts locally that complement her Atlanta roots. She enjoys introducing others to the relaxed atmosphere and pleasures of coastal living. For those moving into the area, Julie feels it is just as important to get her clients connected to the activities available here as it is to find the right property for their needs. The Golden Isles community offers so much more than just beachfront living.
After living on St. Simons Island for several years, Julie was drawn to the charm and character of the Historic District of Brunswick on the mainland peninsula. Having grown up in a gracious older home in Atlanta, she wanted her two daughters to experience the same love and appreciation for an historic home. For the past 9 years they have been the stewards of a second empire Victorian that was built in 1880. "My daughters and I have had the privilege of breathing new life into the property by doing some of the renovation work ourselves. We enjoy being within walking distance to school and the downtown shops and restaurants. We are able to enjoy the sunsets over the East River while sitting on our front porch."
Julie has been an active advocate and resident of the Historic District since moving off St. Simons Island. She currently serves as a Board Member on the Downtown Development Authority, Mainland Planning Commission, Keep Brunswick & Golden Isles Beautiful, Historic Brunswick Business Association, Glynn County Planning Commissioner and Glynn County Green Space Committee and is active with the Chamber of Commerce. Staying involved in my community adds greatly to my credibility and knowledge of the area. In particular when working with buyers or sellers in the Historic District, it´s vital to have a firm understanding of the Historic Preservation Guidelines, city ordinances and history of the area. Pricing properties in the Historic District also requires a thorough knowledge of older homes and renovation work needed.
In addition to her community involvement, Julie started a grass roots non-profit organization called "Signature Squares of Brunswick" to renovate and preserve the 14 historic squares in Brunswick dating back to 1771. She has been instrumental in contributing significantly to the revitalization effort of both the downtown and residential areas. She has earned local, state and national recognition for her community service. Julie has instilled an appreciation for preserving history and community involvement with both of her daughters aged 19 years and 15 years. They each have been involved with mentoring other students, working in a soup kitchen and volunteering with Signature Squares.
One of the most rewarding decisions she made was "pulling the plug" on TV nearly 10 years ago when her daughters were young. "We discussed it as a family and the money that would have been spent on cable enabled my daughters to each start an investment account which they have added to over the years." However, she warns, "a home without TV requires more active parenting. But the results of investing time with my daughters have far outweighed not having television."
In working with clients, Julie is extremely knowledgeable of the islands, mainland and surrounding coastal area. She enjoys gaining the loyalty and trust of her clients which must be earned. She is an active member of the Golden Isles Association of Realtors serving on several committees, a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Georgia Association of Realtors. She enrolls frequently in classes to increase her real estate knowledge and certifications. She is also active in her church and enjoys tennis, being a "soccer mom", walking her dogs ( a rescued Boxer named "Ginny" and a small mixed breed named "Ruffles") and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
